Can I pay monthly? 
Yes, we will charge your credit card on the last day of each month or once each year to save more.  Your choice.

What forms of payment does ByteUSA accept? 
We accept all major credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.

When do you charge my credit card? 
We prorate your first month at 26 per day for the remainder of that month, as well as the next month in advance. Thereafter, we will charge your card on the last day of each month.  ByteUSA.NET is a prepay service.  You will receive a phone call if we are unable to process your card or if it has expired in order to get updated information.

Or if you pay yearly, we prorate your first month for 23 per day for the remainder of that month plus the year in advance.

How many e-mail addresses do I get? 
1 free e-mail address comes with each account.  Additional email addresses are available for 50 per month.

Yes, We have web-based email at webmail.byteusa.net.

Spamming policies 
We have a very strict anti-spam policy. Our Mail servers are configured to automatically shut down any account that sends over 100 messages per hour, or any one message with over 20 recipients. Any account known to be a spam solicitor will be terminated without refund.

Are there any long distance charges when using ByteUSA.NET? 
We suggest that you check with your local phone company to make sure that the number you dial to use ByteUSA.NET is a local call.  Under no circumstances will ByteUSA.NET reimburse for long distance charges.  Use our access number script to find local numbers in your area.

If you have unlimited long distance, but we don't have an access number for your town, simply dial to the town nearest you.

Does ByteUSA provide software? 
Yes, ByteUSA has a setup utility. It is not a stand-alone dialer, but rather configures Dial-Up Networking, a component of Windows, as well as Outlook Express for your email. The setup software is compatible with Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000 and XP. It is not compatible with any Mac or Linux systems - they have to be configured manually. ByteUSA does not provide browsers or email client software. You will need a browser, such as Internet Explorer or Netscape.

Is the software easy to set up? 
The set-up runs like most programs.  You just need to enter some basic information, like your name and password.

Can I block adult or other material? 
You may use filtering software to block material that you find objectionable or you do not want members of your family viewing. Because of the work involved in consistently updating the filters, the charge for filtered service is $15.50 per month. If you have an existing account and would like to have filtered service contact us.

Are there any penalties for canceling the service? 
No, we never charge a cancellation penalty.  If we do not live up to YOUR expectations, then we do not deserve your business.

How long does it take to get my account activated? 
After signing up your account is activated almost instantly.  There is on occasion a configuration issue which may require up to 4 hour to resolve.

Is ByteUSA.NET service compatible with a Web TV box? 
Yes, but there may be fees associated with the WebTV service in addition to ours.  Contact your WebTV associate for more information.  ByteUSA can be used with WebTV, but we do not provide support in the setup or configuration of WebTV devices.

I have two computers. Can I use the service on both? 
Yes. However, only one simultaneous connection can be supported per account. 

Who provides ByteUSA.NET with its backbone to the Internet? 
ByteUSA utilizes the Internet and frame-relay backbone of POP.net and several other backbone suppliers.

Is ByteUSA.NET setup software Macintosh compatible? 
The Bytespeed application IS Macintosh compatible.

ByteUSA's dialup setup software is not currently compatible with Macintosh computers. However, you CAN connect to ByteUSA with Macintosh computers We do not have a Mac Specialist who can guide you through the manual configuration.

How often will I get a busy signal? 
Very rarely!  ByteUSA.NET does everything possible to maintain easy access to the Internet.

How often does your server go down? 
Not often. Our servers are completely redundant. When one goes down, another one picks up right where it left off.  We maintain a 99% uptime yearly.

Does ByteUSA.NET offer ISDN or other high speed access? 
No, we currently only offer standard dialup.

How often will the process of downloading files across the net be interrupted or terminated prematurely?  
Ideally this would never happen. Many times when it does happen it is a problem with the server sending or holding the data and not the ISP.

Can I remain online for unlimited time without disconnecting? 
A user will automatically be disconnected after 5 hours. You can dial in and reconnect within two minutes.  Idle connections are disconnected after 20 minutes.

What is the limitation on the size of files that can be attached to e-mail?
File size may be up to 10 megabytes and all file types are allowed.
